About

I am a Software QA / Test Engineer in Cairo. Since September 2024 I have worked as a Test Engineer at Nezam, a software testing services company. I test several live software products at the same time, on outsourced projects for many clients in Australia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt.

The products cover e-commerce, EdTech and LMS, healthcare, legal tech, agritech and games. The products include multi-tenant and multi-portal systems, and I test them on the web, Android and iOS.

I am often the only QA on a project. Each sprint I review requirements for testability, design test scenarios and test cases, run the testing, and lead defect triage.

My strongest area is REST API and webhook testing. I also check data integrity directly in the database. I contribute automated tests to my team's Selenium frameworks, and I am learning Playwright on practice projects.

What I test

Six areas I work in, and the tools I use for each.

  • APIs and webhooks

    I validate responses against schemas, chain requests, and trace data through integrations. I test webhooks as well as REST endpoints.

  • Data and databases

    I write SQL to confirm that what the UI and the API show matches what the database stores.

  • Web and mobile

    I run functional, regression, smoke, sanity, exploratory and usability tests, plus cross-browser and cross-device checks, on web, Android and iOS. I test multi-tenant and multi-portal products. I also test mobile games, including gameplay, device coverage and UI/UX.

    I review requirements for testability, then turn them into test scenarios and test cases.

  • Automation

    I add automated tests to team frameworks built on Selenium and TestNG in Java, using Page Object Model and data-driven tests. I am learning Playwright on practice projects. I have limited performance testing experience with JMeter.
